Making a vision come to life!
How do you make a VISION come to life? This was the challenge presented to Jack McGrath and team at Jonathan McGrath Construction when embarking on the journey of renovating this home inside and out, including additions.
The owners had recently moved back to Florida from the southwest and purchased this lakefront home with impressive views. However, they had a vision of creating a home that incorporated an overall southwestern theme, including a more open floor plan and multiple opportunities to enjoy the lake views. They also wanted to integrate more of the ‘Florida lifestyle’ into the home, specifically when it came to outdoor living and entertaining.
The owners had a very clear vision and specific ideas on what they wanted their home to look like. They wanted to work with an experienced remodeler who had the vision to create their dream…enter the team at Jonathan McGrath Construction.
Jack McGrath worked closely with the owners to design and create their vision. He introduced them to the concept of a covered lanai, summer kitchen and balcony to take full advantage of the Florida lifestyle. The balcony, which is accessed via a spiral staircase, also allows the owners to maximize the breaktaking lake views as well as enjoy the fireworks presented nightly by many of Central Florida’s attractions.
Over 80% of the home was renovated. The existing kitchen was expanded and enlarged to incorporate luxury appliances, custom alder cabinets, a wine tower and a 48″ dual fuel range. In addition, the kitchen island was completed remodeled to improve the overall function and flow of the kitchen. Cultured stone was added to the front of the island, which also includes a sink and dishwasher. The wood floor were removed and replaced with a gorgeous porcelain 12″ x 48″ floor throughout.
A sitting room was added to the master bedroom to allow for enhanced lake views. Additional space was also added to the guest bedroom. A small, non-functional laundry room was removed and an existing bedroom was converted into a full size laundry room with an abundance of cabinets and storage space.
One cool feature is the 8″ and 10″ Viga Pine Pole Logs, shipped from Texas installed in the ceiling inside and out thus creating a true southwestern look and feel.
